Our Story
Chai Wu's culinary artistry draws from the Five Elements of Chinese philosophy. The concept was first borne in London in 2015, where this 2,000-year-old framework has been reimagined across both the menu and atmosphere of Chai Wu. Today, we are proud to be operating across two locations in Knightsbridge, London and Doha, Qatar.
The origin of our name is simple. ‘Chai’ refers to the Cantonese word for ‘wealth’, reflecting our dedication to elegance and luxury as well as paying respect to our prestigious locations in both Harrods, London and Gewan Island, Doha West Bay. ‘Wu’ means ‘Five’, representing our Five Element mindset and recording the history of Chai Wu’s flagship restaurant, which adorns the fifth floor of Harrods.
Adding a luxury spin to the best of pan-Asian cuisine, Chai Wu boasts a menu that is bursting with flavours, textures and colours. You’ll find picture-perfect dim sum (topped with beluga caviar, gold leaf or black truffle), tempura soft-shell crab alongside a sizzling Szechuan chicken and certified Kobe beef.
For the ultimate feast, it doesn’t get much better than Chai Wu’s perfectly crispy Beijing duck, carved at your table by a chef and served with a choice of fresh pancakes or mantou buns. Vegetarians are also well catered for, with a dedicated menu featuring dishes such as vegetarian dumplings topped with goji berries, vegetable spring rolls and braised tofu with vegetarian oyster sauce.
